Obesity

Weight and obesity is something that a lot of people can relate to or has struggled with. According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, “more than two in three adults were considered to be overweight or to have obesity in the year 2014”. It is a huge problem we face in the time we live, and we must motivate and empower one another to make a change. Adults are not the only ones who suffer from this, NHANES also says that “about one in every six children and adolescents ages 2 to 19 were considered to have obesity. Children and adolescents in today’s culture spend so much time on technology that it has impacted their weight greatly. According to tech addicts, 98% of children have a television in the home, 72% of children have access to a computer at home, and 67% of children own a video game system”. A person’s health may be at risk because of his or her weight. Obesity is a lifestyle disease, it increases the risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, and even cancer. Sure, food has a lot to do with this, your calorie intake and size of your portions in relation to your daily calorie intake are crucial, but so is staying active and sweating!
